About the Guide

Planet Montevideo is an independent guide to Montevideo and Uruguay — the old town and the Rambla, the beaches of the coast, the wine country and Colonia, Cabo Polonio and the wild shore, and where to stay from a hostel bunk to a boutique room. We write for the independent traveller who wants the honest, on-the-ground version of a country that rewards taking your time.

We are not a booking agent or a tour operator. We take no commission on the places we mention and run no sponsored write-ups dressed as reviews. We simply set down the Uruguay we have come to know over many slow weeks here, and point fellow travellers toward the corners of it worth their time.

What we cover

Montevideo and its neighbourhoods, Punta del Este and the boho coast, day trips to Colonia and the vineyards, the off-grid wild of Cabo Polonio, and the practical business of where to sleep and when to come. Everything is written from real travel, not press trips.
